Joining a team in the mobile app

There may be times where you would like to join an existing team created in your company’s account. If you’d like to join a team, please note that you will only be able to join a public team. If you’d like to join a private team, you will need to be invited by an existing member.

You can find all public teams via the Teams tab in the Contacts section of the app, or you can search for a specific team via the search bar at the top of the app.

Joining a team

There are several methods for joining a team in the mobile app, but for the purpose of this article, let’s review one common method for joining a team.

To join a team, follow these steps:

Navigate to Contacts via the bottom menu bar
Select the Teams tab beneath the top bar
Use the search bar at the top of the app to type the name of the team you’d like to join OR Tap the filter icon at far right, below the tabs, to scroll through the list of public teams
Once you’ve found the team you’d like to join, tap the Join button
Tap Join Team in the modal window to confirm joining the team

After joining the team, the app will take you to that team’s conversation. Here, you can view the full conversation history, and a message will appear in the message thread notifying the team that you have joined.

You can also find that team at any time via your conversation list by going to the Teams tab in the Message menu, or by searching it via the search bar at the top of the app.
